2023 Hodge Jr. Classic

The Hodge Jr. Classic at Dubuque Golf & Country Club kicks off the 2023 season!

It was a beautiful day at DG&CC for some junior golf! It was great to see some familiar faces and to meet some new ones! A lot of participants were ready to get on the course and see friends while competing.

In the boys 16-17 division, Quinn McGeough took the season's first win shooting a 77. “The best part of my round was my approach shots, I was able to hit the green in regulation a decent amount of times and I think that really saved me some strokes.” Jaydon Nabb got second with an 80 and Camden Flack won a cardback playoff against Charlie Becker for the third place plaque. Both players shot an 84.

For the girls 16-17 division, Cece Ball had a first place finish with an 83. “The best part of my round was my three wood off the tee because if my driver wasn’t going good, I would hit my three wood and find the fairway.” Andrea Wubbena took second place with a 95.

In the boys 14-15 division, Connor Walsh won with a 78. “I putted very well and that’s where I got most of my strokes back today.” Ben Thill finished in second place shooting an 81 and Bryce Carroll is close behind in third place with an 82.

In the girls 14-15 division, Brooklyn Bussan shot a 113 to win the division. “My favorite shot today was that I hit it over the practice green on hole 18.”

For the boys 12-13 division, Henry Thier shot a score of 33 (2 under) to take home the first place plaque. He made a good run in his round that helped him shoot his incredible score “I made eagle on one of the par fives with a chip in which got some momentum going and then made two birdies after that and I was really just trying to stay patient and make putts.” Reid Herrig finished in second place with a 40 and Ty Miller took third place with a score of 47.

Addie Splinter won the girls 12-13 division with a score of 38. “The best part of my round was my chipping, and I am excited to play with all the other girls this summer.” Landry Rauen shot a 49 to finish in second place and Makenna Ball and Ella Schulte both shot a 53. Ball won the cardback playoff to take the third place plaque.

In the boys 10-11 division Michael Hamilton took first place with a 43. “The best part of my game was my short game, I would hit a chip and focus on getting a two putt.” Beau Reed followed closely behind with a 44 for a second place finish and Greyson Haddox won a cardback playoff for the third place plaque. Haddox, Kaleb Elsbury, and Bentley Behnke all shot a 48.

For the girls 10-11 division, Estelle Ball took home first place with a 57. “I enjoyed playing with my friends and had a lot of fun!” Finely Rauen shot a 68 for second place and Leah Hermsen shot a 73 to finish in third place.
